Supervision

My approach to supervision is relational, reflective and collaborative. I see supervision as a space to step back from the demands of counselling, think honestly about our work, and develop greater awareness of ourselves, our clients and the therapeutic relationship.

My background in community arts, counselling, specialist mentoring and work supporting survivors of trauma and abuse has shaped my belief that there is no one-size-fits-all approach. I am interested in the person behind the practitioner, and in how our experiences, values, assumptions and emotional responses inevitably influence our work.

I offer supervision that is both supportive and appropriately challenging. I want supervisees to feel safe enough to bring uncertainty, mistakes, difficult feelings, ethical dilemmas and successes without fear of judgement, while also having their thinking constructively challenged when this may benefit their practice or their clients.

I believe good supervision needs to be restorative, formative and ethically grounded: a place to process the emotional impact of the work, build confidence and develop professionally, while maintaining ethical practice and keeping client wellbeing at the centre.

I also believe counselling does not happen in isolation. Culture, inequality, disability, relationships, organisational pressures and wider social expectations can all influence the therapeutic relationship. Supervision provides an opportunity to explore these influences, question assumptions and consider different perspectives.

I am particularly influenced by person-centred and humanistic values, alongside an integrative and flexible approach. Reflective practice sits at the heart of my supervision: curiosity, openness, critical thinking and a willingness to keep learning.

I hope you will experience me as grounded, open, curious and honest. Ultimately, I want supervision to be somewhere you feel safe enough to think honestly, challenged enough to keep growing, and supported enough to do your best work.
